The Summer 2013 Academic Questions(vol. 26, no. 2) focuses exclusively on the role played by faculty in the process of politicizing academia in general and peer review in particular. It is important to notice the crucial role played by academic administrations.  During my three decades of academic experience I witnessed with concern how academic administrators transformed universities from forums of intellectual distinction and integrity dedicated to free and rigorous inquiry, into rigid institutions guided by political correctness. Vague, arbitrary, and misleading political correctness corrupts academic freedom, subverts shared governance, and imposes compliance with the sole purpose of consolidating administrative rule over the faculty. Universities have become like “crony-corporations” operating for the personal benefit of “the leadership” and its affiliates: deans, deanlets, chairs, and directors.
