To the Editor:

The use of epithets (“Argument by Epithet,” AQ, Fall 2018) is not confined to political matters. The science of climatology is dominated on the Left by the use of epithets such as “climate denier” or “climate change denier.” The advocates of human-caused climate change and global warming, such as former VP Al Gore and Gov. Jerry Brown and the science crowd that profits from the cause, will not debate the issue. Instead they resort to the epithets cited above. The use of epithets is pervasive across the cultural/political/science spectrum.
